Introduction to iLegent
iLegent, the developer of the HomeBuyer Go platform, started in 2005 with a simple mission – develop technology to help consumers become financially literate before making purchases that would significantly impact their finances. iLegent’s products explain complex financial concepts in simple terms using intuitive and intelligent presentations. iLegent’s name and logo reflect this mission. “iLegent” is a derivative of the word “intelligent.” The piercing “eye” in the logo mirrors iLegent’s effort to create intuitive and visually appealing financial presentations.
Introduction to HomeBuyer Go
During the boom days of the real estate bubble, iLegent’s founders, Rambod and Jessica, encountered a problem with the real estate industry. As first time home buyers, they were told by their mortgage lender that they could afford outrageously priced properties; but they were not told how or why. So Jessica and Rambod decided to educate themselves on the different loan options presented to them. The problem they encountered was that neither their lender nor any of the free tools on the web could help them make sense of the complex mortgage concepts that they were being presented with.
Unfortunately, Rambod and Jessica were not alone. In 2005, and still today, many first time home buyers do not have the financial literacy to validate for themselves whether they can afford the homes and mortgage terms that the real estate industry confidently tells them they can afford. When these consumers turn to the web for answers, they find only un-intuitive, incomplete, and discrete tools that do not provide any real answers or education.
In this void of consumer financial literacy, iLegent saw the need to create a product that would not only educate consumers like Rambod and Jessica about the different financial aspects of a home purchase, but empower them with the tools to judge for themselves if a home purchase price and loan terms met their needs. HomeBuyer Go was born. When developing HomeBuyer Go, iLegent focused on creating not just another mortgage calculator, but a platform where users are provided with clear and intuitive financial presentations, easy to read explanations of their results, step-by-step interviews, and a safe method of saving their data. This allows consumers to compare different homes, loan terms, and budgeting options throughout the home purchase cycle. More important, HomeBuyer Go aggregates all of the various financial aspects of a home purchase into one clear cash flow analysis – the monthly bottom line.
iLegent is currently running HomeBuyer Go in beta. Please take a look around. We appreciate your feedback!
